A NetSuite renewal quote can arrive much higher than the contract it replaces. This guide explains the usual drivers, what other customers report, and how to choose between renewing, renegotiating and switching. It quotes no NetSuite prices, because your price depends on your edition, users, modules and contract terms.
Disclosure: OPS is a NetSuite partner and an Odoo partner, and earns fees from work on both. We may recommend that you renew, renegotiate or switch. The right answer depends on your operating problem, not on which platform we work with.
What NetSuite customers report
Public posts in the NetSuite Professionals community describe large renewal increases. These are reported experiences from individual customers, not verified data or typical outcomes.
- A customer on NetSuite for 13 years reported a renewal proposal with a 7% uplift on every year of a five-year term, which they estimated at about 40% over the term. Their reseller told them uplifts of 10% or more were now common (August 5 and 6, 2025).
- A manufacturing and construction company with 120 users wrote that "Netsuite pricing is double now, it went up 100%" and that it was looking at other systems (February 28, 2025).
- A customer with 220 Full Access licences reported a 42% increase at early renewal, after discounts, with Full Access licences as the biggest driver. Another user in the same thread reported an initial 150% increase while still negotiating (March 18 and 26, 2024).
Your quote may differ. Use these posts as a reason to read your own contract early, not as a forecast.
Why renewal quotes rise
Check these drivers against your current contract and the new quote:
- First-term discounts that end. A discount agreed for the first term may not carry into the renewal.
- Uplifts on multi-year terms. An uplift applied every year compounds. A single uplift fixed for the whole term costs less.
- Licence mix. More Full Access users, or users moved from lighter licences, raise the total.
- Modules and add-ons. Modules, SuiteApps or a higher service tier added during the term carry into the renewal.
- Price list changes. If the contract ties renewal pricing to a then-current list price, list changes flow through.
Ask the account team to split the new quote into these lines. Each one has a different fix.
When to start
Start at least six months before your renewal date. Your contract's notice period and any auto-renewal clause set the real deadline, so find those first.
Oracle's fiscal year ends on May 31, according to its fiscal 2026 results published on June 10, 2026. Vendor sales teams often work to year-end targets, so a decision timed before then may give you more room to negotiate. That is not guaranteed, and a rushed decision costs more than a missed quarter.
Renew, renegotiate or switch
Scroll to read all columns.
| Option | It fits when | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Renew as quoted | NetSuite fits your processes, the increase fits your budget, and a change would cost more | Signing a long term with yearly compounding uplifts |
| Renegotiate | The increase comes from expired discounts, unused licences, unused modules or term structure | Trading a lower year one for higher later years |
| Switch | Fit problems go beyond price, and the full cost of a new system over several years is lower, including migration | Underestimating data migration, integrations, retraining and parallel running |
Switching has real cost and risk. Compare a right-sized NetSuite renewal with other mid-market ERPs, including Odoo, on the same requirements and the same five-year view. Do not compare a full renewal quote with a starter quote for another system.
Renewal review checklist
Contract terms:
- Renewal date, notice period and auto-renewal terms.
- Uplift wording: once per term or every year, a fixed cap or a then-current list price.
- Which discounts end at renewal.
- Payment terms and term length options.
- Data export rights and any fees at exit.
Usage:
- Active users by licence type over the last 90 days.
- Users who could move to a lighter licence.
- Modules, SuiteApps and service tier in use, and those you pay for but do not use.
- Integrations that depend on NetSuite, and what each would cost to rebuild.
Requirements:
- Processes NetSuite handles well today.
- Gaps that drive workarounds, spreadsheets or extra tools.
- Growth plans for the next three to five years: entities, countries, users.
Decision:
- A like-for-like five-year cost for each option.
- A named owner, a decision date before the notice deadline, and a fallback if talks stall.
Common questions
Why did my NetSuite renewal go up so much?
Common drivers are expired first-term discounts, uplifts applied every year, more Full Access users, added modules and price list changes. Ask for a line-by-line quote to see which apply.
Can we negotiate a NetSuite renewal?
You can ask. Customers in the posts above describe varied experiences. Clear usage data, a defined term and a credible alternative give you the strongest position.
Is switching ERP cheaper than renewing?
Sometimes, but not always. Migration, integrations, retraining and parallel running add cost and risk. Compare full costs over the same period.
When should we start preparing?
At least six months before the renewal date, and before the notice period in your contract begins.
Does OPS favour NetSuite or Odoo?
OPS partners with both and earns fees from both. We start with your requirements and recommend the option that fits them, including renewing NetSuite.
