Fractional CIO
Fractional CIO services.
A fractional CIO owns your technology strategy, investment, and delivery for part of the week, with decision rights agreed before work starts. It fits when your technology choices have become business choices but you do not yet need a full-time CIO.
Technology strategy and roadmap
Tie each investment to the operating problem it solves, its dependencies, and the person who owns delivery.
Budget and investment decisions
Build your technology budget with stated assumptions, challenge proposed spend, and keep a decision register.
Vendor selection and governance
Run selections from requirements, hold your suppliers to their scope, and review commercial terms before renewal.
Transformation leadership
Own your ERP, data, cloud, and integration programs that cross functions, and resolve the trade-offs that stall delivery.
Risk and board reporting

Common questions.
What do fractional CIO services include?
A fractional CIO owns technology strategy, the investment roadmap, budget decisions, vendor selection and governance, transformation leadership, and technology risk reporting for part of the week. OPS agrees the scope and decision rights in writing before the engagement starts, so you know what the CIO owns, recommends, or escalates.
When should we hire a fractional CIO instead of a full-time CIO?
Hire a fractional CIO when your company needs recurring executive ownership of technology decisions, but the workload does not yet justify a permanent full-time role. Hire full-time when technology leadership is a continuous role with enough scope, team, and budget to need daily ownership.
How much time does a fractional CIO spend with us?
There is no standard allocation. Time is set from the decisions, teams, and delivery responsibilities in scope, and your agreement should cover availability for urgent decisions and a named escalation route.
Is a fractional CIO the same as managed IT support?
No. A fractional CIO provides executive direction and accountability. Day-to-day support, help desk, and infrastructure operations need their own team or provider and their own scope.
Which other fractional roles does OPS provide?
Alongside the fractional CIO, OPS provides fractional CISO, COO, CFO, and Head of People leadership, plus a transformation PMO and on-call advisory. Roles can be combined when the gaps overlap.
Where does OPS provide fractional leadership?
OPS works from hubs in Montreal, Dubai, Geneva, and Singapore, covering North America, the GCC, the UK and EU, and APAC.
How does a fractional CIO engagement end?
Every engagement includes a transition plan. Ownership moves to an internal leader, a permanent CIO, or a continuing fractional arrangement, with roadmaps, decisions, and supplier records kept in your company systems.
